First Baptist Church Covenant

We believe that we have been led by the Spirit of God to receive Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. We have publicly declared our faith in Him and have been baptized by immersion in the name of God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As a result, we choose to agree with one another in the following matters:

We promise to develop a deeper love for God and obey Him with joy. We agree to put Christ first in our homes and to create an environment in which our children and anyone else in our care may learn the law and love of God. We will invite our friends and neighbors to be part of God’s family, and we will warmly welcome any strangers who visit our fellowship.

We agree to walk in a holy and responsible manner in the world, to be just in all our dealings, faithful in our promises, and careful with our words. Because the Bible says that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and to maintain the reputation of our Lord and His Church, each one of us will avoid practices that could be harmful to ourselves and to others, or to our public testimony.

We will love one another, pray for one another, encourage one another, be accountable to one another and confess our sins to one another. We will be slow to take offense and always ready to seek reconciliation. We will seek the best for our brothers and sisters, even if it means sacrifice for ourselves.

We promise to be faithful in worship and to give regularly and sacrificially of our time, treasure, and talents to the ministries and expenses of this church, for the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel throughout our communities and to all nations. We also resolve to use our spiritual gifts for the benefit and building up of Christ’s church.

If we move to a different location, we will join another congregation of like faith and practice so that we can continue growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus
